【Yuji Koseki Memorial Museum】

【Hanamiyama】

  • This park was created over a period of 80 years by the Abe family, a flower farming family.

【Visit the historic site of Itakura, the feudal lord of Fukushima】

【Itakura Shrine】

  • This shrine enshrines the clan founder, Itakura Shigemasa (who was killed in battle during the Shimabara Rebellion on New Year's Day in 1638).
    Shigemasa was the commander-in-chief of the allied forces organized by the shogunate to suppress the Christian uprising that occurred in Shimabara, Amakusa, and his descendant became the lord of Fukushima domain in 1702 (Genroku 15).

【Jokoji Temple, the family temple of the Itakura family】

  • This temple was the location of the Fukushima Temporary Prefectural Office during the Meiji period, and was the first place in the country to hold a mock Fukushima Prefectural Assembly.
    It has been the family temple of the Itakura family since the Genroku period, and has a strong history as the place where the 11th feudal lord, Katsunori, guarded the temple during the Boshin War.
    The atmosphere is outstanding, with its stately gate and palace towers.
    Additionally, Teramachi Street is home to many temples that were built to protect the castle.

【Waraji Festival】

  • This is Fukushima's representative festival, held every August.
    They carry the largest straw sandals in Japan and parade through the city.
    Of course, the festival will also be held in the downtown area, just a few minutes' walk from the hotel, so come and join in the exciting festival!

【Shinobu Sanzan Dawn Pilgrimage】

  • The annual festival of Haguro Shrine, located on Mount Shinobu.
    Approximately 100 people carry the largest straw sandals in Japan, measuring 12m in length, 1.4m in width and weighing 2t, through a parade through the city before dedicating them to Haguro Shrine.
    From midnight until the next morning, many worshippers come to pray for bountiful harvests, safety of their families, and good health.

【Tanabata Festival】

  • A festival held mainly on Paseo Street and Bunka Street near Fukushima Station.
    The area is bustling with large bamboo and a tunnel of Tanabata decorations, as well as handmade Tanabata decorations by kindergarten children.

【Fukushima Inari Shrine Annual Festival】

  • The highlight of this festival is undoubtedly the "ren-yama floats."
    The sight of 24 floats gathering on the street in front of Fukushima Station and parading in a line is truly spectacular!
    During the festival, shooting galleries and food and drink stalls are set up around the shrine, attracting people of all ages and genders.
